En métal doré et ébène, figurant un lion dressé sur ses pattes arrièrres, ses yeux bougeant au rythme de l'échappement, sa machoire s'ouvrant au rythme de la sonnerie, ses pattes antérieures posant sur un écusson à découpe mouvementée dans lequel s'inscrit le cadran à aiguille en acier bleui, la base à décor gravé de losanges présentant un cadran d'ajustement à calibres, la plinthe de forme octogonale à décor de moulures et présentant des compartiments vitrés permettant d'apercevoir le mécanisme ; le mouvement présentant des plaques octogonales réunies par quatre montants, l'une d'entre-elles avec la signature 'Michael Kraz Augspurg' (sic) ; restaurations

A SOUTH GERMAN GILT-METAL AND EBONY STRIKING AND AUTOMATON FIGURAL CLOCK
MICHAEL KRAZ, AUGSBURG, SECOND QUARTER 17TH CENTURY
Modelled with a chased gilt-metal rampant lion, its eyes moving with the beat of the escapement and its jaws opening and closing with the strike, his paws supporting an engraved shield inset with a chapter ring with blued steel hand (calibrated I-XII and 13-24), resting on a diamond-engraved platform set with a time adjustment dial calibrated I-IIII, above an octagonal ebony plinth with glazed viewing apertures within ripple-moulded frames and raised on eight gilt-metal feet; the movement secured to the case with turn catches, with octagonal plates joined by four pillars, chain fusee and barrel for the going train and barrel for the strike train, verge and balance escapement, unpierced countwheelfor strike on bell, with engraved strike cage, signed on the back plate 'Michael Kraz Augspurg' (sic); restorations
