122 Colour Photographs. Copenhagen: Schoenberg, 1948.

Quarto (340 x 245 mm). 122 colour photographs. Original blue paper covered boards, white spine lettered in blue, original dust jacket printed in black and red with contemporary English distributor price-sticker on the front flap ('Faber 63/-'), original cardboard slipcase (paper near the spine buckling somewhat, dust-jacket with very light rubbing, slipcase wanting some staples).

FIRST EDITION, IN THE RARE ORIGINAL SLIPCASE. Helmer-Petersen's book prefigures the work of Shore and Eggleston by two decades. Helmer-Petersen later taught night classes at the Chicago Institute of Design, counting among his colleagues Siskind, Callahan, and Ishimoto. 'A singular, remarkably early and largely successful attempt to make colour photography work... his aim was to make the kinds of pictures that could only work in colour, and not in black and white'. The Photobook, vol. I, pp.202-03.
