Lot Essay

According to the Archives of Montres Omega, the present watch with stainless steel and 40 microns gold-plated case was sold to Austria on 19 January 1959.

The Ranchero (Spanish for rancher) was launched in 1958, the model using style elements from the Railmaster and the Seamaster 300, the arrow hands from the 1957 Speedmaster. Due to insufficient demand in the Spanish speaking countries, the Ranchero collection was promptly discontinued.

Made in comparatively small series, the few models appearing in public to date are much sought-after by collectors.

The Ranchero model is illustrated and described in Omega Saga by Marco Richon, p. 486.
