Lot Essay

In a letter to the present owner, dated 24 February 2005, Professor Giancarlo Sestieri proposed an attribution to Viviano Codazzi (c. 1606-1670) and Adriaen van der Cabel (1631-1705).
An attribution to Domenico Roberti (c. 1642-1707) has also been suggested.
