Lot Essay

With Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch with silvered dial and enamel hour markers in 1931 and its subsequent sale on 22 March 1935.

This watch is an extremely attractive example of the rare reference 146, combining highly desirable features such as the stainless steel case and a sector dial, and its excellent, close to new overall condition. In fact, the facets of the case impress by a sharpness hardly ever seen on any other steel wristwatch of similar age.

Never been offered at auction before, it is believed to be one of only seven examples of reference 146 in stainless steel with such a sector dial, confirmed by the Extract from the Archives, to appear in public to date.

Reference 146, one of Patek Philippe's earliest models with an individual reference number, was in production from 1931 until around 1935.
