Marked K. Fabergé with the Imperial warrant, overstriking the mark of Feodor Rückert, Moscow, 1908-1917, scratched inventory number 27260
Of traditional form, on oval foot with raised prow, the hook handle formed as a stylised animal's head, enamelled throughout with geometric motifs in shades of blue, rose, orange and green on black and dark grey grounds, the base with Russian inscription 'K. Fabergé Kiev', marked under base and on handle

The engraving K. Fabergé Kiev indicates that the kovsh was retailed by the Kiev branch of the firm, which existed for a short period from 1905 to 1910. Fabergé objects related to the Kiev branch are very rare.
