Lot Essay

The name of the recipient 'Shanchun' is Dr. Zhuang Shanchun (S C Cheng), who loves Chinese art and is a good friend of Huang Yongyu. Huang presented the painting to Zhuang in recognition of their friendship in 1978. Dr. Zhuang is on the Board of Directors at Fujian Hua Qiao University. He and his wife Zheng Qiluan donated funds to build the Shanchun Qiluan Building of Art in 2006 to improve the offices and teaching environment of the College of Arts at the university, which has served to positively advance art education.
