Cal. 13 nickel-finished lever movement, 23 jewels, bi-metallic compensation balance, swan neck regulator, silvered matte dial, applied gold Arabic numerals, outer railway five minute divisions and tachometer scale, three subsidiary dials for 30 minute register and constant seconds, date combined with moon phases, day and month apertures in English, circular case, two rectangular chronograph buttons in the band, case, dial and movement signed

Lot Essay

With Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch with tachometer in 1948 and its subsequent sale on July 4 of the following year.

Patek Philippe produced the reference 1518 from 1941 until approximately 1954. This now treasured and collectible timepiece was the first perpetual calendar chronograph wristwatch to be manufactured in series by any firm in the world. It was succeeded by the reference 2499. Only 281 examples of this renowned wristwatch were made in total.
