Lot Essay

Preserved in extremely crisp and excellent overall condition, the present watch is a beautiful example of a stylish and non-oyster chronograph. The watch stands out by its charismatic untouched champagne dial, beautifully raised signature and scales, sharp and crip case proportions. Probably one of the best examples to appears on the market since decades.

It is thought that only a small number of the antimagnetic chronograph reference 3835 was made in the 1940s. We believe that the present watch is the only known piece of this series in yellow gold with champagne dial.
An almost identical watch, bearing case no. 57507, is illustrated in Rolex, Collecting Wristwatches, Guido Mondani Editore, p.415. Similar watches are illustrated in Ore d'Oro 2 by Jader Barracca, Giampiero Negretti, Franco Nencini, p.145 and in I Cronografi Rolex - La Leggenda, Pucci Papaleo Editore, p. 37.
