Lot Essay

Ichwan Noor, born 1963, studied at the Indonesian Art Institute, Yogyakarta. He is known as a maker, extremely adroit with his hands. In his Yogyakarta studio, where he works with a number of assistants and workers, Ichwan Noor helps other artists to "make" three-dimensional pieces, often constructed of found objects. Rekonstruksi #9 (Lot 587) is no exception. He once said that, for him the most interesting part of a creative endeavor is the "making" process. Those creative ideas developing in his mind cannot be separated from the ideas of making his art pieces.
