Lot Essay

Born in 1968, Indonesian artist Agapetoes Agus Kristiandana is known for his visually intriguing paintings and sculptures centered around his commentary on social and political discourses. There is No Peace without Forgiveness (Lot 588) depicts his satirical take on political appeasement. Whilst the two hands are joined together in a gesture of harmony, each of the hands still possess gun-like handle, ready to hurt each other in the next instance.
