Mauboussin, the Parisian jewellery firm, opened a shop in New York City in October of 1929, right when the Great Crash occurred. Unfortunately, it failed, and was left with a large inventory. Trabert & Hoeffer, a successful jewelry business in the late 1920's, acquired Mauboussin's large inventory and merged with the business and added the name to theirs. As Trabert & Hoeffer-Mauboussin, a store opened at 407 Park Avenue with their line of "Reflection" jewelry, and enjoyed success through the 1930's and 40's.
