Lot Essay

With Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch with diamond hour markers in 1953 and its subsequent sale on November 16th of the same year.

Reference 1593 was launched in 1944, and is often considered one of Patek Philippe's best rectangular-shaped designs. The model was produced for over 20 years, mostly in gold, with a few examples cased in platinum.

The model is illustrated in Patek Philippe Wristwatches by Martin Huber & Alan Banbery, second edition, pages 128 & 129 and 141 & 142.

To the best of our knowledge this watch has never before been offered in public.
