Lot Essay

Accompanied by a Patek Philippe Extract form the Archives confirming production of the present watch in 1999 and its subsequent sale on December 16th of the following year. Further accompanied by a Patek Philippe Certificate of Origin dated December 16th, 2000, Patek Philippe year 2000 leather envelope with product literature, Patek Philippe year 2000 presentation box and outer packaging.

Reference 5100 was produced in 2000-2001 in a limited edition. Approximately 1500 were made in yellow gold, 750 made in pink gold, 450 in white gold, and 300 made in platinum. This reference is extremely special as Patek Philippe committed to not produce any other cases like the present watch by destructing all tools and material used to manufacture it. The unusual shape of the case was created with the influence of the reference 2554, also known as 'Pagoda,' or 'Manta Ray,' which was produced in the early 1950's.

To the best of our knowledge this watch has never before been offered in public.
