Lot Essay

Accompanied by an OMEGA Extract from the Archives confirming delivery of the present watch on 4 December 1997 to Italy. Further accompanied by an OMEGA International Warranty dated December 23 1997 and stamped by an Italian OMEGA retailer, OMEGA fitted presentation box and outer packaging.

Specially made only for the Italian market, this watch was produced in 1997 in a very limited edition of 500 examples to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the legendary Speedmaster. It was one of the first series to have luminous hands and dial, and also to feature a sapphire crystal which was unusual for the time. Its white dial, anthracite hands and transparent sapphire crystal case back make the present watch attractive and sought after by OMEGA collectors.

The present watch with with movement number 48’370’834 and limited edition number 151/500 is photographed and described in Moonwatch Only, The Ultimate OMEGA Speedmaster Guide by Grégoire Rossier and Anthony Marquié, p. 428 and 429.
