Lot Essay

Accompanied by an OMEGA International Warranty dated 15 September 2005, pictograms card, operating instructions, original sale tag, fitted presentation box and outer packaging.

Launched in a limited edition of 6,000 numbered examples, the present watch pays tribute to the legendary Formula 1 World Champion Michael Schumacher. Specifically, this production commemorates his sixth title won on October 12, 2003 at the Japanese Grand Prix on the Suzuka Circuit following titles won by him in 1994, 1995, 2000, 2001, and 2002. On this day in 2003, the renowned race car driver became the most awarded Formula 1 driver in history.

Offered in like-new condition, the present watch looks back to the beginning of the Speedmaster in the 1950s when it was originally designed for timing sports and races rather than efforts in space exploration. Indeed, the Speedmaster has a long association with motor sports that is often forgotten in light of its conquest of space.

An example of the present watch is illustrated and described in OMEGA, A Journey Through Time by Marco Richon, 2007, p. 649.
