C'est à partir de 1923 que François Ducharne, grand industriel du textile, fait appel à Ruhlmann. Leur collaboration s'étend jusqu'au début des années 30, autour de divers projets, notamment pour l'aménagement de ses bureaux rue de la Paix, et donne lieu à la création d'un vaste ensemble de modèles parfois spécifiquement conçus pour ce client de goût. Ainsi de 1925 à 1930, Ruhlmann réalise une centaine de plans et dessins afin d'habiller l'hôtel particulier que l'architecte Pierre Patout a conçu pour lui rue Albéric-Magnard (Paris 16e). C'est de cette commande qu'est issu le miroir que nous présentons ici.
