PROVENANCE :
Directly acquired from Ge Bizhou’s family. The lot is accompanied by a confirmation letter signed by Ge Bizhou’s family member.
NOTE :
The recipient of this painting is Ge Bizhou (1915-1986), who was also known as Liao Xinquan and Liao Nainan. Born in Chengdu, he enrolled in the Department of Literature of Luxun Art Academy and was then allocated to the War Front Office under Xinhua Newpspaper as a millitary correspondent in 1947. He served several posts such as the editor of the Mass Literature magazine, the director of the Creative Office of Northwest Literature and Art Association, the chief secretary of Xi’an Writer’s Association, and the advisor of Sichuan Provincial Museum. He started publishing his writings in 1936, creating an abundance of poetry, subsequently becoming an influential poet.
