Lot Essay

Reference 5131 is a tribute to Patek Philippe’s vintage world time watches, which are today amongst the rarest treasures, especially when highlighted by a superb cloisonné enamel dial such as the present contemporary example. As the art of making such dials is highly complex and requires great skill from dedicated artisans, the numbers produced are very limited.

Reference 5131 is equipped with the ultra-thin automatic calibre 240 HU. (HU stands for Heure Universelle, which is French for World Time). It features an eccentric 22k gold micro-rotor recessed in the back plate.

We are very pleased to present this beautiful timepiece which is the first example of the pink gold ref 5131 to be offered at Christie's and fresh to the market.
