Passionné de voyage et d’ailleurs, Paul Dupré-Lafon fait régulièrement référence à l’univers des paquebots et des trains. Il crée notamment en 1929, à l’occasion de l’une de ses commandes les plus prestigieuses pour un appartement sur deux étages donnant sur le parc Monceau, le modèle des tables Boussole et Mappemonde. Notre coffre, dont très peu d’exemplaires ont été réalisés, est caractéristique des réalisations de Paul Dupré-Lafon, alliant matériaux précieux et qualité d’exécution.
Ce cofre a été authentifé par les ayants-droits de Paul Dupré-Lafon.
A keen traveller and visitor to other climes, Paul-Dupré Lafon's creations regularly drew inspiration from the world of trains and ocean liners. In particular, in 1929 for one of his most prestigious commissions for a two-storey apartment with views over the Parc Monceau, he created the design for the Boussole [Compass] and Mappemonde [Mappa mundi] tables. Our chest, few examples of which have been made, is characteristic of Paul Dupré-Lafon's work with its fusion of precious materials and quality of craftsmanship.
