A Shin-Shinto tanto
Meiji period (dated 1870), signed Moritoshi zo and dated Meiji san nen jugatsu bi (a day in October, 1870)
Sugata [configuration]: shobu-zukuri with shallow curvature, mune-takashi
Kitae [forging pattern]: masame
Hamon [tempering pattern]: a double hamon with gunome along the ha and the mune
Boshi [tip]: kaeri-fukashi
Nakago [tang]: ubu with sujigai file marks, one mekugi-ana, hira-yamagata
Habaki [collar]: double gold-clad copper
Nagasa [length of blade]: 25.5cm
Horimono [carving]: each side carved with a bonji just above the hamachi
