Lot Essay

An attribution to Leandro Bassano (Bassano del Grappa 1557-1622 Venice) or his workshop can be considered based on favorable comparisons with works such as the Portrait of Alvise Corradini (Padua, Museo Civico), Portrait of a Prämonstratenser Cleric (Vienna, Kunsthistorisches Museum) and a half-length portrait of an unidentified sitter (Art Gallery of Ontario, inv. 57/28).
