Lot Essay

The younger sister of Sir Edwin Landseer, it is recorded in an exhibition catalogue of Landseer and his World, Mappin Art Gallery, Sheffield, 1972, that much to her brother's annoyance, Emma signed her own pictures 'EL' and continued to do so after her marriage.
