Lot Essay

The present lot depicts the daughter of William Andrews Clark, a wealthy industrialist and senator from Montana from 1901-1907. The plaster model, likely in the collection of the Museo del Paesaggio, appears in one of the photographs taken at the Verbania Pallanza in 1966. See, Exhibition catalogue, Paolo Troubetzkoy 1866-1938, Museo del Paesaggio, Verbania, April 29-July 29, 1990, p. 273 (plaster model illustrated).
