A Lacquer Sage Jubako [Picnic Set]
Edo period (19th century)
Comprising a four-tiered jubako [picnic box], a sliding tray containing two lacquer sake cups, a pewter sake bottle incised with chidori amongst clouds, all contained within a fitted lacquer frame and decorated overall in gold hiramaki-e, nashiji and fundame on a black roiro-nuri ground with chidori amongst clouds, silver handle carved and engraved as further chidori and with scrolling foliage, fitted wood storage box
