QAJAR IRAN, LATE 19TH CENTURY
Persian manuscript on thick light blue speckled paper, 91ff. plus 4 fly-leaves, each folio with 8ll. of black nasta'liq in clouds reserved against gold ground, text panels ruled in gold and black, catchwords, with 29 full diagrams showing various parts of an astrolabe, twenty gold drawings of the constellations, further mathematical diagrams, opening folio with gold and polychrome illuminated headpiece, final folio with possibly added colophon giving the name of scribe as Muhammad Husayn Lari, the patron as Mirza Hassan Khan Munajjam Bashi and a date of AH 1223, in associated brown morocco with gilt stamped central stellar motifs, marbled paper covered doublures
