The sale opens with 12 photographs by Constantin Brancusi formerly in the collection of the Swiss dancer Marthe Lebherz. She had an affair with the artist in the 1920s and appears in two of the three photos taken on the beach in Nice in 1928. Among the top lots of the classic photography section are two works by Gustave Le Gray including Ciel chargé, Mer Méditerranée, 1857; El Ensueno, a poetic portrait of a young girl in Mexico by Manuel Alvarez Bravo dated 1931; and 10 exceptional large prints by Henri Cartier-Bresson including iconic images such as Derrière la Gare St Lazare, Place de l’Europe, Paris, 1932 and Valence, Espagne, 1933. Two prints from the modernist collection the deLIGHTed Eye will also be presented: Bricks (West 86th Street), New York, circa 1922 by Edward Steichen and Abstraction with bottles, circa 1925, by Jaromir Funke. Highlights of the contemporary section include eight seascapes by Hiroshi Sugimoto, three prints by Vik Muniz, a self-portrait by Cindy Sherman as Marilyn Monroe and a  cibachrome print by Nobuyoshi Araki.
