拍卖简介

Christie’s is proud to present ADAM: Works from the Collection of Adam Lindemann, a dedicated evening sale taking place on 9 March at 6pm EST, with a portion of proceeds to support the Michael C. Rockefeller Wing for art of the peoples of sub-Saharan Africa, the Pacific Islands, and North, Central, and South America at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The sale highlights a global span of masterworks from creators who have disrupted and pushed the boundaries of art and design, such as Jeff Koons, Jim Nutt, Etel Adnan, Andy Warhol, Karen Kilimnik and Jean Royère, interspersed with Oceanic Art, vintage motorcycles and a Beeple NFT.

Throughout his career as a collector, gallerist, writer and cultural commentator, Adam has been a pivotal figure in the New York art world for elevating new voices into the canon of contemporary art, while also championing established artists to new heights of market recognition. As the founder of the Venus Over Manhattan gallery in New York, he established an exhibition program that features both well-known and less understood masters. This passion for reshaping notions of taste and art history started decades ago in his private collection, by acquiring work that challenged standard collecting norms. The sale presents masterpieces from highlights of each artist's career, while also illustrating the trajectory of Adam's dedicated collecting. In 2006 and 2010, Adam demystified the contemporary art and design markets by authoring a cult classic, Collecting Contemporary and Collecting Design, published by Taschen. Nearly two decades later, ADAM: Works from the Collection of Adam Lindemann honours that legacy as a first-of-its-kind evening auction, reflective of the singular nature of the works on offer.
