拍卖简介

Jennifer Yum, Head of Morning Sale declared: “Very strong results were achieved this morning with a total of $77 million with 20 lots realizing over $1 million, making this the most important morning session of Post-War and Contemporary art ever organized at Christie’s. The sale kicked off with the exquisite selection of works on paper assembled across several decades by Frances Dittmer (lots 118-173). The 55 works realized $7.8 million and international collectors also bid fiercely for Richard Serra’s Untitled (lot 138), which sold for almost 15 times its estimate realizing $1,157,000. The 6 works offered by the CY Twombly Foundation (lots 182 – 187) totaled $2,890,250 and sold 40% by value, above the pre-sale low estimate. New buying levels were established, we are seeing higher value works performing well in this venue. Freshness to the market is key and an asset that drew in buyers of works from our collections and estates. Classic Post-War works reign supreme with works by Roy Lichtenstein, Andy Warhol, and Robert Motherwell performing very well. Contemporary works on paper were also highlights as works by Christopher Wool, Richard Serra, and Roni Horn achieved prices above expectation.
