This March, as part of our 20/21 auction series, Christie’s is delighted to present the Post-War and Contemporary Day Art Sale.
Led by a fantastic painting by Keith Haring from 1984, as well as exceptional paintings by Georg Baselitz, Alex Katz and Günther Förg, the auction presents an exciting array of works by the most important artists of the 20th and 21st century. Other highlights include Butterflies by Yayoi Kusama and an important work by Yoshitomo Nara.
This season Christie’s is also offering works by some of the most exciting contemporary artists working today, such as Louise Giovanelli, Louis Fratino, Andrew Cranston, Flora Yukhnovich, Ewa Juszkiewicz, Emma McIntyre, Shannon Cartier Lucy and Diane Dal-Pra.
Looking beyond the two-dimensional, fantastic sculptures are presented, such as two important works by Tony Cragg, Damien Hirst’s Grecian Nude as well as Annie Morris’ Stack 9, Copper Blue.
An abstract painting by Philip Guston, follows from his major solo exhibition at the Tate Modern earlier this year. A painting by Frank Auerbach coincides with the recently opened exhibition of his charcoal portraits at the Courtauld in London. In parallel with the recently opened Unravel exhibition at the Barbican, we are offering textile works by Chiharu Shiota, Grayson Perry and Tracey Emin.
This season Christie’s is delighted to collaborate with Migrate Art in its latest project, From The Ashes, dedicated to raising funds for two Indigenous Associations in the Amazon Rainforest. With media created from ash and charcoal salvaged from the burnt remnants of the Amazon as a result of illegal deforestation, twenty-five contemporary artists have joined forces to create new works that will be offered across the Day Sale and First Open. Highlights include unique works by Julie Curtiss, Loie Hollowell, Idris Kahn and Tacita Dean.
