战后及当代艺术 (晚间拍卖)
拍卖简介
As part of the 20th Century season at Christie’s, our Post-War and Contemporary Art auctions take place on 11 and 12 February, featuring some of the leading masters of this explosive period in the history of art.
Led by Bacon, Hockney and Freud, the Evening Auction charts the major achievements of British art over the past fifty years. Francis Bacon’s Two Figures, 1975, is both a self-portrait and a poignant tribute to his great muse and lover George Dyer, while Lucian Freud’s pair of portraits Head of Esther and Head of Ib commemorate the artist’s relationship with his grown-up daughters. The Miles and Shirley Fiterman Collection presents major works by David Hockney, including his Beach Umbrella, executed in 1971 — a glowing evocation of light and colour created following the devastating end of the artist’s relationship with Peter Schlesinger, and Peter Doig’s The Architect’s Home in the Ravine, 1991, an intricate study of modernism through snow-covered branches.
