Traditional Chinese painting can be described as watercolour painting in Chinese ink. People from Asia, the Chinese, in particular usually write or paint on rice (xuan) paper with ink. I am fond of Western watercolours, because it is compatible with Chinese ink painting techniques, and expressive of the water and ink effects. Significantly, in oil painting, you apply the paint, while in watercolours paintings, you draw. Each method has its own advantages. I have opted for watercolor painting because it is more expressive of my style.
