Movement Signed Patek Philippe, Case signed A.W.C.Co., Retailed by Marsh & Hoffman, Albany, N.Y., Movement No. 66'303, Case No. 161'017, Circa 1887

At the end of the 19th Century it was not uncommon that Patek Philippe would produce the movements for their watches and the movements would be sold, as in this case, to American retailers to be cased domestically.

There were two watch case companies who used the name American Watch Case Co. (AWCCo.), one, a U.S. company operating in New York City and the second was the American Watch Case Co., Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The present watch case was cased in New York and then sold at a New York retailer, Marsch & Hoffman. To the best of our knowledge the present watch has never before been offered in public.
