According to the Archives of Piaget, the present watch was manufactured in 1972.
Exhibiting tremendous creativity and artistic skill, this sumptuous creation in gold is crafted with oval rope-edged panels each set with a disc of polished tiger’s eye. The watch itself is completely unobtrusive, the tiger’s eye dial exactly matching the bracelet so that it blends perfectly. It is no wonder that these Piaget “haute couture” pieces remain so highly-prized by collectors and continue to influence the designs for the House of Piaget.

Tiger’s eye is a mystical stone and is one of the gemstones that exhibits “chatoyance” or a “cat’s eye” effect. It is usually cut into cabochon, beads or flat polished stones to display the natural beauty of the gem, a quality which can be much appreciated in the present watch.

This model is illustrated in Montres et Merveilles de Piaget by F. Cologni, G. Negretti, F. Nencini, p. 64.
