« Je ne cherche qu’à obtenir de la couleur. Je mets les couleurs, je les pose cherchant ainsi à gagner une couleur. J’utilise des combinaisons très variées. Ça garde les choses ouvertes. Il n’y a pas une couleur que je n’utilise pas, donc il n’y a pas de système. Ce cheminement permet la création de très beaux tableaux qu’on n’aurait jamais envisagé. » Imi Knoebel
