古代及十九世紀繪畫呈獻精選赤土陶器

This year, the Old Master & 19th Century Drawings sale in Paris will also feature a selection of terracottas alongside traditional works on paper.

Ranging from the 16th to the 19th century, these sketches transcribe the 'fire of the imagination' as described by the artist Charles-Nicolas Cochin (1715-1790) in one of his academic lectures in the 18th Century. The sale will thus evoke thought and gesture, or how artists interpret a similar subject in different ways, whether in drawing or sculpture.

The Italian section will feature works by Federico Zuccari, Giovanni Battista Tiepolo and Bartolomeo Passarotti.

The Nordic section will be led by a previously unseen discovery: a large and rare Study of a Seated Franciscan Monk, in black stone heightened with white on grey-blue paper by the 17th-century Antwerp Baroque master Anthony van Dyck.

The French section will include drawings by Jacques Bellange, Georges Lallemand, Jean-Baptiste Leprince and François Boucher, as well as a selection of sculptures including works by Guillaume Coustou, Clodion and Bernard Lange.

The 19th century, with works from France, England and Germany, will be highlighted by three key lots: an unpublished pastel by Rosa Bonheur, who was fascinated by the American West and bison; a very large portrait of Madame Henriette de Bonnières by James Tissot, also in pastel; and a major watercolour by Gustave Moreau depicting The Good Samaritan. There is also a selection of topographical drawings by Auguste Borget and the great explorer Alphonse Pellion, including landscapes of Asia and South America.

Cette année, la vente des Dessins anciens & du XIX^e siècle à Paris offrira également une sélection de terres cuites aux côtés des traditionnelles œuvres sur papier.

Allant du XVI^e au XIX^e siècle, ces esquisses transcrivent le ‘feu de l’imagination’ comme décrit par l’artiste Charles-Nicolas Cochin (1715-1790) dans une de ses conférences académiques au XVIII^e siècle. La vente évoquera ainsi la pensée et le geste, ou comment les artistes interprètent un sujet similaire de différentes manières, que ce soit en dessin ou en sculpture.

Du côté de l’Italie, seront présentés des œuvres de Federico Zuccari, Giovanni Battista Tiepolo ou encore Bartolomeo Passarotti.

La section nordique sera menée par une découverte inédite : une grande et rare Étude de moine franciscain assis, à la pierre noire rehaussé de blanc sur un papier gris bleu du maître baroque anversois du XVII^e siècle, Anthony van Dyck.

La section française inclura des dessins de Jacques Bellange, Georges Pillement, Jean-Baptiste Leprince, François Boucher et une sélection de sculptures dont des œuvres de Guillaume Coustou, Clodion ou encore Bernard Lange.

Le XIX^e siècle, avec des œuvres françaises, anglaises, ou encore allemandes s’illustrera par trois lots phares : un pastel inédit de Rosa Bonheur, fasciné par l’ouest américain et les bisons, un très grand portrait de Madame Henriette de Bonnières signé par James Tissot, également au pastel et enfin une importante aquarelle de Gustave Moreau représentant le Bon Samaritain. Vous découvriez également une sélection de dessins topographiques d’Auguste Borget et du grand explorateur Alphonse Pellion avec, entre autres, des paysages d’Asie et d’Amérique du Sud.
