拍賣簡介

Christie's announces Le Gavroche, a two-part online auction commemorating the illustrious 57-year journey of the two-Michelin-starred French restaurant, which closed its doors to the public for the final time on 13 January 2024. The sales feature Le Gavroche's exceptional wine collection, works of art, and selected storied objects from the fabled fine dining institution.

From 10–24 April, Le Gavroche Part I: The Restaurant presents a range of pictures, drawings, prints and decorative objects that adorned the bar and restaurant, as well as tableware and Albert Roux's library of cookery books. Highlights include the iconic Le Gavroche sign, the restaurant's guest books, and amusing depictions of life behind the scenes of a restaurant by William Balthazar Rose. Bid online from 10 April.

Brothers Albert and Michel Roux Snr started a gastronomic revolution when they opened Le Gavroche in 1967, heralding the arrival of French haute cuisine to the heart of London. Michel Roux took over the restaurant in 1989 and continued his father and uncle's legacy, winning numerous accolades, including the Lifetime Achievement Award and the Michelin Chef Mentor Award. Over the years, some of the most internationally renowned chefs, including Gordon Ramsay, Marco Pierre White, Marcus Wareing, Monica Galetti and Pierre Koffmann, have trained in the prestigious Le Gavroche kitchens.
