The April sale of Photographs in New York features over 200 exciting examples of modern and contemporary photography by such preeminent artists as Vik Muniz, Peter Beard, Richard Avedon and Manuel Alvarez Bravo.  Highlights include a gorgeous portrait of Marilyn Monroe from Philippe Halsman's famous Life Magazine cover shoot, offered on behalf of the artist's estate; an early print of Dorothea Lange's arresting Depression-era image, White Angel Breadline, originally given by the artist to fellow photographer Paul Caponigro; and several stunning works by Irving Penn, including still lifes, nudes and many of his most sought-after fashion images.  This sale is preceded on April 3rd by The Range of Light: Photographs by Ansel Adams.
