拍賣簡介
This October, coinciding with Frieze London, the Post-War and Contemporary Day Sale is presenting an exciting array of cutting-edge Contemporary voices including Jenna Gribbon, Mohammed Sami, Louis Fratino, Elizabeth Peyton, Austyn Weiner and Dominique Fung.
Leading the sale are works by blue-chip masters, such as Andy Warhol’s electric Dollar Sign, previously in the collection of Jade Jagger, and his portrait of Pia Zadora. Lucio Fontana’s Concetto spaziale, Attesa is the only yellow canvas of 1967 emblazoned with a single slash. Other highlights include Banksy’s iconic Keep it Real and his playful sculpture Goldfish Bowl, the first time a work from this edition comes to market.
Wall Eyed Pinto, a beautifully rendered painting by Peter Doig, follows on from the artist’s recent exhibition at The Courtauld in London earlier this year. A collection of exceptional drawings by Lucian Freud are timely with the artist’s recent exhibition at the National Gallery in London and two works by Sarah Lucas coincide with the just opened exhibition at Tate Britain.
This season Christie’s is also delighted to collaborate with the Museum of Modern West-African Art in the sale of works for the MOWAA Rainforest Gallery and Nigeria Pavilion at the Venice Biennale 2024, with highlights by Ibrahim El-Salahi, Lakwena Maciver and Kwesi Botchway. Works by artists such as Bridget Riley CBE and Sir Michael Craig-Martin have been donated to and will be sold by the South London Gallery. Hassan Hajjaj and Mona Hatoum have also donated works in support of the earthquake victims in Morocco and Turkey respectively.
