拍賣簡介

Jonathan Laib, Head of Morning sale declared: "

Echoing the remarkable results achieved during the Evening Sale, the morning session saw strong results for high quality works of art, including robust prices for works with exceptional provenance such as Joseph Albers’ Homage to the Square: White Nimbusm from the Schulhof Collection which fetched a world auction record price at $2.2million. Works by Joan Mitchell, Alexander Calder, and Edward Ruscha were sold well above their pre-sale estimates. We are particularly pleased with the solid results achieved for the second portion of the Schulhof collection (lots 174 to 222) which sold for $12.5 million, totalling $32 million with the ten lots from the Evening Sale. Several world auction records have been fetched, including those for works by Harry Bertoia (lot 302) at $578,500, and for Merry Renk (lot 105) at $11,875. Very strong prices were achieved for the intricate and abstract wire sculptures by Ruth Asawa, including Untitled (S.093,…) (lot 104), which was sold for three times its estimate, realizing $422,500, the second highest price for the artist at auction."
