非凡珠寶設計師Rosa de la Cruz珍藏晚間拍賣
拍賣簡介
Fierce of mind and kind in spirit, Rosa de la Cruz set the tone for collecting contemporary art. Through her pioneering vision and dedicated patronage, de la Cruz fostered the oeuvres of some of today's most important artists while building Miami into a global arts destination. All works to be sold were exhibited for almost two decades in The de la Cruz Collection space in Miami’s Design District and Rosa’s Key Biscayne home, which she generously opened to the public.
Highlighting Rosa’s collection sale this May in New York is one of Felix Gonzalez-Torres’s extremely coveted light-string pieces — “Untitled” (America #3). Due to an extremely intimate relationship between artist and collector, Rosa de la Cruz amassed the most significant private holdings of Gonzalez-Torres, who is quickly becoming recognized as one of the late 20th century’s most important sculptors. Another important focus for Rosa was collecting the work of Cuban-born land and body artist, Ana Mendieta, whose lifetime Guanaroca print, full set of Silueta Works in Mexico and an extremely rare, unique Sandwoman sculpture all feature in the Evening Sale. Surrounding these institutional giants will be paintings by many of the market’s most celebrated creators of the last 40 years: Peter Doig, Martin Kippenberger, Wade Guyton, Hernan Bas and Christina Quarles.
