Hon-zukuri, iori-mune, ko-kissaki with koshi-zori curvature, the forging pattern itame mixed with mokume and mune-yaki, the tempered edge choji-midare with togariba tendencies in nioi and nie, the tip Jizo, tang ubu with katte sagari file marks and two holes, gilt-metal habaki

19th-century hoso-dachi koshirae comprising nashiji-lacquer saya decorated with heraldic crests of the Matsudaira family in gold hiramaki-e, the matching gold nanako-ji mounts including kabuto-gane, fuchi, ashi-kanamono and seme-ganen decorated with Matsudaira family crests surrounded by scrolling vines carved in high relief, the hardware on the hangers carved with blossoming plum trees, Matsudaira family crests and scrolling vines in either high or sunken relief, against a nanako ground, tsuka wrapped with ray skin and mounted with gilt-metal bar menuki with a circular family crest and five gilt-metal bosses; the shitogi tsuba gilt-metal with Matsudaira crests, and scrolling vines on a nanako ground, 41¾in.
