With Patek Philippe Certificate of Identity and Guarantee of Origin and copy of the retailer Grauwiler Basel purchase invoice, both dated 26 November 1973. Furthermore delivered with Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch with yellow gold bracelet in 1972 and its subsequent sale on 19 July 1973.

To the best of our knowledge, this watch has never been offered at auction before and is one of only four examples of reference 3587/2 with such a gilt dial to appear in public to date.

Reference 3587/2, amongst the largest wristwatches ever made by Patek Philippe, was launched in 1970 and fitted with an electronic movement. It was introduced into the market at the Basle Fair in April of that year.

The Beta-21/Beta-22 calibre was developed by a consortium of watch companies, including Patek Philippe, at the Swiss Electronic Research Centre or CEH (Centre Electronique Horloger) in Neuchâtel. It was the first quartz movement for wristwatches with analogue display.

The Beta-21 is described and illustrated in Patek Philippe Wristwatches by Martin Huber & Alan Banbery, second edition, p. 332, pl. 486 & 487.
