水墨是谷文達最熟悉的表現手法,他將大寫的偽文字置於抽象的水墨背景之中,勁道的筆鋒和錯位的字體結構訴說的是,傳統書法剝離了語言學意義後的中國水墨美學。谷文達的書法和山水功底受於陸儼少先生的教誨。巨大的字型、飽滿的墨色和水與墨間的交錯暈染帶來的視覺衝擊,直導偽文字的無法解讀性,突顯當代水墨的純粹理念。谷文達對文字和美學之間結合與統一的嚮往、大膽灑脫的創作手法,皆使他成功地以中國傳統水墨震盪著西方藝術世界。
