Joseph et un serviteur sur la gauche, faisant signe à ses frères sur la droite, un paysage classique urbain en arrière-plan, portant l'inscription '.G.XLIII.' en lettres dorées le long du bord supérieur, le marli décoré d'animaux grotesques alternant avec des masques et des cartouches; le revers comportant trois termes décorés d'entrelacs, et signé des initiales 'I.C.', le marli orné de feuillages stylisés; légères restaurations

A CIRCULAR PARCEL-GILT POLYCHROME ENAMEL PLATE DEPICTING JOSEPH RECEIVING HIS BROTHERS
ATTRIBUTED TO JEAN COURT, CIRCA 1600
Depicting Joseph and a servant to the left of the scene gesturing to his brothers on the right, with a classical cityscape to the background, inscribed in gilt lettering along the upper edge '.GXLIII', with an outer border of grotesque beasts alternating with masks and cartouches; the reverse with three herm figures intertwined with strapwork signed with initials 'I.C.', and an outer border of stylised foliage; minor restorations

The present plate forms part of a series depicting scenes from the life of Joseph, of which seven other plates are to be found in the Musée du Louvre, Paris (Baratte, loc. cit.).
