Careers at Christie’s
London work experience programme
The programme
We offer a limited number of two- to four-week, full-time work experience placements in our London offices each year. Department availability varies throughout the year to ensure candidates join us at our busiest times and receive an interesting, meaningful experience. The programme is run for the benefit of applicants with a genuine interest in art, business, and a career in the art world. We aim to provide our work experience candidates with an understanding of our business through a hands-on experience and networking opportunities.
Finer details
Work experience is carried out on a voluntary basis; it is unpaid but we do provide an allowance of £10 per day, for lunch, and uncapped travel expenses.
Eligibility
We undertake a selection process based on formal criteria:
• Must be at least 18 years of age at time of placement.
• Must be able to commit to the stipulated timeslots (we are unable to accommodate placements outside of these dates).
• Must sign, and comply with, the Christie’s confidentiality agreement.
Applicants will need to be eligible to work in the UK. Unfortunately, we are unable to organise or support visa applications for individuals coming from abroad.
Choice of department
• Asian Art
• Books and Manuscripts
• Decorative Arts
• Estates, Appraisals and Valuations

Successful applicants are allocated to an available department that most closely matches their preferences. Although we make all reasonable efforts to place individuals in their preferred department, this is not always possible due to the volume of interest versus places available. Please be assured that wherever individuals are placed they will gain valuable insight into Christie’s, whether in a specialist or business department.
How to register your interest
To register your interest in the Programme please email workexperience@christies.com with the following:
1. Your available dates (start and end).
2. Your top three department choices from the list above.
3. Your CV.
It is important to note that demand for work experience placements far exceeds the availability of places and, regrettably, we can only respond to those we are able to offer a place to.
